Secure supply chains – process, incidents & recoveries
Brigadier Duncan Scott, South African Police Service (SAPS)
Brigadier Scott has served for 32 years; 2 years of visible police station duties, 24 years in the country’s premier counter terrorism and hostage release group – the Special Task Force, and five years in the Border Policing Component.
In August 2017, he was appointed by the National Commissioner of Police to the rank of Brigadier as the Police Commander at OR Tambo International Airport, Southern Africa’s gateway and the biggest and busiest airport in Africa. Here he works alongside nine other Departments and Agencies as well as several contracted security providers. In relation to law enforcement, each department has its own mandate, but the coordination role is mandated to the Police in an integrated multi-disciplinary security strategy to maintain law and order and effectively combat crime. This is coordinated by the Joint Operations Coordinating Committee (JOCCOM), of which Brigadier Scott is the Chairperson as the senior SAPS Officer at the airport.
