Case study: the transport company acquired by criminals

Police officers from the Criminal Department of the Regional Police Headquarters in Katowice, Poland, as part of their current duties, carry out intensified activities related to an established organised crime group with its origin in the Republic of Poland, whose members committed multiple thefts and frauds. The OCG acquired property of significant value in the form of construction machinery, household chemicals, photovoltaic devices, etc.

Ongoing investigation work as well as close international police cooperation contributed to the discovery and recovery of stolen goods, the value of which was estimated at approximately €3.5 million. Due to the complex scope of classified activities carried out, the collected evidence is now being analysed by the District Prosecutor’s Office as part of the ongoing investigation. This presentation discusses the police investigation.

Commissioner Olgierd Góra works in the International Police Cooperation Unit within the Intelligence Department of Regional Police Headquarters in Katowice, Poland. He has 13 years in the police service. For the last 5 years, he has been working as an expert in the international exchange of intelligence information between Polish Police and law enforcement agencies around the world, also undergoing numerous trainings conducted by agencies such as Interpol and Europol, for which he worked as an expert in a field of combating illegal immigration. His main duty is to support Silesian Police in combating international organised crime and searching for wanted fugitives.

Commissioner Wojciech Malczyk from the Criminal Department of Regional Police Headquarters in Katowice has 16 years in the police service. He is the Coordinator of a special group within Criminal Department of the Regional Police Headquarters in Katowice, Poland, responsible for combating organised crime groups that specialise in crimes against property. He has many years of experience in international cooperation between law enforcement agencies of European Union countries and has been repeatedly awarded by commanders of various police units due to the effectiveness in his daily work.
